Curriculum

The Curriculum at Lache Primary School is broad and balanced. It is designed to be engaging, challenging and innovative. Our curriculum teams work through a systematic approach to monitoring and reviewing the learning opportunities, effectiveness of teaching and the quality of outcomes in all areas, to ensure that we are constantly providing experiences that will move every child's learning forward. 

We have designed our curriculum with the aim to build our children's resillience, confidence and independence. British values underpins much of what we do. Our 'No Outsiders' curriculum celebrates diversity, focusses on inclusivity and promotes community cohesion to prepare our children for life as global citizens.The importance of being physically and mentally fit is promoted at every opportunity.

 The development of subjects, focussing on the progression of skills and knowledge is at the heart of our strive to ensure that ALL children succeed. We believe what we teach will make a difference to our pupils and provide them with the cultural capital they need for future learning, employment and for fulfilling their potential. Each topic covered begins by igniting the children’s curiosity through drama, dilemmas, themed experiences, visitors and trips. These strategies will continue to be threaded through the teaching throughout the terms.

Vocabulary and spoken language development is a high focus with ‘words of the week’ and ambitious topic words are chosen and embedded in knowledge organisers to widen our children’s growing use and understanding of words.

Exhibitions linked to the children’s learning are held at the end of each term. These come alive with musical performances from the children, as music is an area we are enhancing and developing throughout school.

Throughout the year our 'added extras' develop our Wider World curriculum: writing and science weeks, enrichment days, performances,  events and celebratory days.
