SEND and Geography:
We need to be ambitious about what our children with SEN can achieve and not believe their ability is ‘fixed’ for every subject. We take into consideration barriers to learning but we do not let these limit opportunities. All children, regardless of gender, starting point, or background, will have the opportunity to engage with a quality geography curriculum. They will be equipped with the knowledge, skills, vocabulary and real-life experiences to understand about diverse places, people, resources and natural and human environments. We intend to inspire all our pupils with a sense of enjoyment, an aspiration to travel and a geographical curiosity.
If you would like more information about how we support children who have SEND with their geography, then please see our SEND section of the website.
Geography in Early Years;
Geography in the Early Years involves guiding pupils to make sense of their world, exploring and observing people, places, technology, and the environment. It is part of the area of learning called "Understanding the World" in the early years curriculum. Geography helps children understand the interaction of people and their physical and human environments, both locally and globally.
