School Parliament

Lache Primary School Parliament

parliament.png

At Lache Primary School we believe that our children should have a say and can impact on the way we develop our school, our country and the wider world.

Our school parliament consists of a pupil representative from each year group, who was voted on by their peers.

The School Parliament meets at least once a month and discusses issues raised by their classmates, issues arising from Senior Leadership discussions and current developments worldwide that our school can impact on.

Please browse through our minutes to see what decisions we have been making.

November Meeting

In our November Meeting, we discussed the upcoming changes of the new snack system - we had some very excited children happy to hear about bacon sandwiches on a friday! Two representatives spoke to Mrs Coghill about their questions and we were given the task of revealing this change to the school in our next assembly.

Special mention to Oliver (the willows parliament representative) for going back to the Willows and creating some posters to put around the school to share the news!

We also started planning how we can support Mrs Price with the Christmas Fayre and we started to put forward ideas for how to celebrate Christmas this year! Parliament decided that they would like to hold a Christmas competition - more info on that to come!

January Meeting

In this meeting, Mrs Seager had asked us to consider the importance of attendance and being on time in our school.

Questions:

What do you think might make it hard for children to come to school?

The children said that there could be issues in the morning with the weather that might make it hard to get into school. People who live far away might find it difficult. Someone mentioned that if people are unwell, it would be hard to come to school as well as mentioning getting up early in the morning being a challenge for a lot of people.

How do you think people feel if they miss school?

Sad, disappointed to miss out on exciting activities. Unhappy and angry that they have missed lessons.

What do you think teachers can do to help these children?

Stay at the door longer and have a chat with the children and families to see if there is anything specific that they need help with. Someone asked if teachers could come and pick them up from their houses.

What do you think parents and families can do to help these children?

Set earlier alarms and get to school on time.

February meeting:

In this meeting, Mrs Coghill spoke to us about the upcoming plans for World Book Day! We spoke about things we would like to do in our classes, as well as any whole school activities we wanted. Mrs Coghill told us about two exciting World Book Day menu's - we chose Bruce Bogtrotter's CHOCOLATE FUDGE CAKE!
