Writing
Overview of Writing at Lache Primary School
Our writing curriculum here at Lache aims to create enthusiastic, competent and creative writers that have the required stamina to create a cohesive and well-planned text.
We strive to help our children develop into articulate and imaginative writers who can communicate effectively- both orally and on paper. They are well-equipped with the basic skills they need to become life-long learners with a LOVE of writing themselves and an appreciation for others writing too.

Pathways to Write Texts Overview
We follow a Mastery approach to English through the programme ‘Pathways to Write.’ Units of work are delivered using high quality texts and children in all year groups are given varied opportunities for writing. Skills are built up through repetition within the units, and children apply these skills in the writing activities provided. Many opportunities for widening children’s vocabulary are given through the Pathways to Write approach and this builds on the extensive work we do in school to provide our children with a rich and varied vocabulary.

SEND and Writing:
At Lache, we operate a mastery approach to our writing. However, work is targetted to suit the specific needs of our children. We run 'Pathways 2 Progress' sessions in addition to our daily English lessons to consolidate English skills that children are not secure with. Phonic catch-up focusing on repetititon and spelling interventions are also available.
If you would like more information about how we support children who have SEND with their writing, then please see our SEND section of the website.
