2024-2025

Our School Sporting Year so far...

At Lache Primary School we feel it is very important be inclusive, encouraging as many children to participate in a wide range of school sports opportunities. As a school we are passionate about the role exercise and school sports play in developing the social, emotional and physical health and wellbeing of our children. Throughout the school year children throughout school have many opportunities to play football, dodgeball. basketball and join our thriving dance clubs. School are part of The Chester School Sports Partnership and to take part in many different sporting events and competitions throughout the year. These include The SEND Sports Festival, Chester Schools Football League and Cup matches, dodgeball festival, rounders tournament and athletics meeting. A strength of the school this year has been the children's regular involvement in school cross country events. We are looking forward to morning judo, fencing and archery classes before school as the mornings get lighter and warmer. These active and varied sporting opportunities provide the children with a great start to the school day!

Football Club

The children are encouraged to lead the warm up at our thriving Key Stage Two football. Club happens each Friday between 3.20-4.20 pm. The children are led by coached by Mr Mohan and Mr Gresty.

Children from Year three to six enjoy taking part in club together, ideally outside on our large field.

Each time the children attend a club session or take part in a school sports event, they receive a point towards their '100 Sporting Achievement' jumper. To achieve this the children have to show commitment and dedication to school sports over several school years. The children who have achieved this are very proud to wear their dark navy jumpers in school.

At the end of each club session we take a photograph. The children are encouraged to enjoy physical activity and participating as members of a team.

Recently the children have been practicing passing and dribbling the ball short distances with the inside of their foot.

The children are looking forward to forthcoming football matches for our Y3-6 girls team and for our Y3/4 and Y5/6 mixed teams.

Our very young Y3/4 football team enjoyed playing a Chester Schools League game against Huntington Primary School. Well supported by our family members at Lache, the team started well and went 2-0 ahead. Unfortunately the team eventually lost 10-2, but all of the team enjoyed the game and improved as the game progressed. The team will now play Eccleston Primary School at our school.😊

Key Stage Two Dance Club

A very popular club, led by Molly each Tuesday afternoon. It is great to see the children so engaged and enjoying themselves!

Basketball Club

Sports coach Jack comes into school each Monday after school and has led a range of clubs, including our Key Stage Two basketball club.

SEND BOWLING FESTIVAL

This is the first time that the bowling festival has taken place. The team travelled to The Colliseum in Ellesmere Port for a morning of bowling. Our Year 5-6 boys thoroughly enjoyed the festival and represented our school superbly!

The boys had to get used to holding the bowling balls and getting used to how heavy they were! The boys had to try out and choose the ball they would feel most comfortable bowling with.
